Hunt links Colson to Gemstone plan in Watergate case

E Howard Hunt Jr testified that Charles Colson approved the Gemstone counter intelligence scheme leading to the Watergate wiretap. Hunt said the plan was requested by John Mitchell Jeb Magruder and John Dean and that Colson denied advance knowledge of the wiretapping. Hunt pleaded guilty and seeks to overturn charges while criticizing treatment since arrest.

Centennial Parade kicks off ENM fair amid celebration

Eastern New Mexico State Fair grounds hum with entries from 4-H, baked goods, art and farm products as Roswell marks its 100th year. Parade set for 10 am tomorrow from 11th Street to Main, under Junior Chamber of Commerce, with 105 entries led by Police Escort and NMMI units.

Roswell Fair Prepares for Auction and Carnival Week

A long list of local groups and schools participates in the Roswell fair events. Baking entries judged at 4 p.m. at the fair grounds with swine lambs and rabbits weighed and classified Tuesday morning. Farm product and farm mechanics booths close by 9 a.m. Tuesday. Breeding sheep and steers judged at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The carnival operates daily through Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight.

First 1973 cotton bale ginned at Hager man farm

Hagerman Chaves County reports the first bale of 1973 cotton ginned this morning from Dub Hardin’s farm one mile south of Hagerman. The 514 pound net bale came from 1,400 pounds of seed cotton and was handpicked with middling grade and 5-32 inch staple.
