Eisenhower orders federalization of Arkansas Guards

Five of eleven miners trapped 565 feet underground by an explosion near Washington Pennsylvania were killed. One of the six rescued by improvised hoisting was reported in poor condition at Washington Hospital. The deceased had seventeen children among them.

Roswell Group Seeks To End Bars In Chaves County
About 30 Roswell lay churchmen mainly Baptists and four ministers formed a group at the county courthouse proposing to dry up Roswell Chaves county and the state. Rev. David E. Not Guilty Plea Entered in Artesia Murder Case
