He proposes a mix of price supports, expanded buying, and long term credit, noting unanimous support from 150 cattlemen at a Tucumcari meeting.
Federal officials say David Sleuth, indicted by a grand jury for theft of a cow belonging to Barry Cinningvine near Naschitti Trading Post on the Navajo reservation, has been arrested in Laramie, Wyoming. The alleged theft occurred last November.

A 22 year old Lovington woman Dixie Jo Harner was killed when a Chevrolet convertible overturned three times 18 miles east of Roswell on U S Highway 380 at 8 30 last night Her husband Price William Harner 31 and their three year old son Harry Lee were treated at St Marys Hospital for injuries described as numerous cuts and bruises The crash happened as the westbound car lost control went onto the shoulder and rolled Authorities attributed excessive speed to the accident Funeral arrangements are pending at Westrum Mortuary Survivors include a former husband Dickie Lee McClearen and multiple siblings and grandparents The Harner family was en route to visit relatives when the fatality occurred Harner had worked for Mc Laughlin Trucking Co of Lovington and previously lived in Roswell
In Brownfield Texas a county judge ruled a murder and death by own action in the deaths of Carlsbad New Mexico couple Mr. and Mrs. M Leonard Jones. The couple were found dead in their car two miles south of Brownfield after Mrs Jones died from two head wounds and Mr Jones from one temple shot. A .38 caliber pistol was found at the scene. The bodies remained at a local funeral home as relatives were notified.
Mrs. W. P. Sheldon invites Eddy County Republicans to a Sunday picnic at 5 p.m. at C. C. Bacon's home in Carlsbad to honor Gov. Ed Mechem. Guests include Frank Wortman of Dexter, state Republican chairman, with baked ham and drinks provided and all party and nonparty members welcome.

The United States offered to return the MIG 15 jet to its rightful owner and withdraw the $50,000 reward during peace talks. Gen. Mark W Clark stated the asylum policy remains, but the offer to pay for undamaged MIGs was withdrawn until ownership is established. Clifford H. Allen and Miss Rosie Conyers of Albuquerque were sentenced to one to three years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in an abortion death. The charge followed the discovery of Allen’s wife Donna, 23, in the Allen apartment.

J B Savage 76, insurance man and longtime Roswell resident, died at 9 last night at 510 N Pennsylvania Ave. He had just returned from a Chamber of Commerce goodwill trip. Savage served as state manager for Praetorian Life Insurance and operated from a J P White building since 1915. He was a deacon at First Baptist for 30 years and held multiple church and civic roles, including Pecos Valley Baptist Association treasurer and Montezuma College trustee.
Mrs H P Saunders a long time resident died at noon today in St Marys Hospital where she had been admitted a week earlier. She was the widow of Col H P Saunders longtime commandant of the New Mexico Military Institute who died five years ago. Burial arrangements were being made at Ballard Funeral Home with a full notice to follow.
