Oilfield Worker Dies as Odile Floods Hit New Mexico
One oilfield worker died after his vehicle was swept away by flood waters near Loving New Mexico as Odile remnants moved through Eddy County. Forty other oilfield workers were stranded on a county road near Artesia and rescued by National Guard. Flooding closed roads and forced evacuations including SEP Ranch RV Park. Gov. Martinez visited evacuees at a temporary Eddy County shelter and urged ongoing emergency support. Carlsbad Caverns National Park entrance flooded and closed for a second day.
