Trainload of Sightseers Sees Dayton Gas Well Exhibit

A Dayton Gas and Oil Company excursion drew a large crowd last night. Starting from Roswell, the train picked up 50–60 at Dexter, 120 at Hagerman, 150 at Lake Arthur, and at least 250 from Artesia, filling the coach to capacity as the crowd traveled toward the Dayton gas well.

Gas Struck in Hagerman Prospect Near Roswell

Gas in small quantity was struck at the Hagerman prospect hole at Headquarters ranch twenty miles east of Roswell. The flow remains steady with little pressure and a constant blaze can be maintained at the casing top. The well depth is five to six hundred feet and drilling continues.
