Kay Smith 58 and Pauline Maxey were hospitalized in Covenant Health in Lubbock in critical condition after a sedan crash in Canutillo Texas. Joanne Lancaster was also in the sedan and flown to Lubbock with uncertain status. State Police cited possible alcohol as a contributing factor and are continuing the investigation while all passengers wore seat belts.
Jury Sentences Westerfield After Complex Murder Trial
The jury chose the death penalty for David Westerfield after a two month trial. Prosecutors cited Danielle van Dam's blood and hair found on his jacket and in his motor home, while defense argued the family’s turmoil and other suspects. The van Dam parents testified on how their sons cope with the loss.
