Roswell voters rejected the Local Option Gross Receipts Tax with 5,257 yes votes from 23,373 registered voters, only one of ten wards approving. City officials cited confusion and emphasized community input and ongoing public discussions.

The Roswell Fire Department and Roswell Fireworks Committee plan a new fireworks display for Roswell Rallies for America after a rainout. A boot drive will run Friday Sept 20 on North Main Street from noon to 6 pm, asking motorists to donate spare change or bills.
U S District Judge Royce Lamberth held Interior Secretary Gale Norton in contempt for failing to fix mismanagement of hundreds of millions in Indian royalties and for alleged fraud in misrepresentation of efforts to repair the trust. The body of a man missing since Thursday was recovered Tuesday afternoon from the Felix River near the old bridge by State Road 2 in Chaves County. Dexter Police had earlier alerted the sheriff after family reported him missing from a 6 p.m. shift. no identity released pending family notification.
