North Korean and Chinese prisoners refusing repatriation were moved to Indian custody in the Panmunjom neutral zone. Observers were reduced to five per side while Red banners taunted defectors. Fifteen hundred witnesses watched as nine North Koreans who changed their minds were sent back to North Korea.
The Hagerman-Dexter soil and water conservation tour begins at 2 p.m. with a caravan from the Lake Van clubhouse to tour area farms and ranches. Cooperators will attend a steak dinner at 7 p.m. at the Hagerman American Legion Hall.

The infant son of Jack Gabbery and his California wife rolled from the front seat of a parked car into a bucket of water in Bonanza Arizona. Deputy Sheriff W D Davis said the baby, asleep on the front seat, was found head down in the bucket after a 10 minute absence. The infant is named Jack Gabbery of Bellflower.
The second Cham ber of Commerce Hi Neighbor tour starts at 7 15 am leaving the chamber. First stop is Tatum for TV pics of this fast growing oil community. Next Levington includes officials in shots and a Lea County Fair visit precedes noon lunch with Rotary Club. Hobbs officials are invited to a 20 minute stop. Roswell hosts the New Mexico Hotel Association convention this weekend with about 40 hotelmen expected. Ned Nickson, Nickson Hotel manager, says this is the first time the association meets in the Chaves capital. Registration starts Friday at noon at the Nickson with a cocktail party and buffet supper at 6 30 p.m. at the Nickson. Rio and Norton hotels serve as hosts. Saturday luncheon and banquet follow at 8 p.m. Jack Cheney of Albuquerque’s Franciscan Hotel is the association president.
Mayor Warren R. Cobean reveals five appointments to boards including three at the Chaves County Memorial Youth Center. Frank Kauffman Mrs Hugh Huff Jr and Jack Hans join the Youth Center board with Hans filling an unexpired Alderman Winston Daniel term. Cemetery board names Mrs J P White Sr and library board Mrs E A Cahoon.
