In Kansas City, a train collision injured seventeen people, all non fatal, tied to a political gathering.
The undersigned will receive bids at their office until September 21 for the erection of a one story brick business house for Alle ry Furniture Co in Artesia New Mexico. Plans are on file with the Bank of Artesia and the undersigned. Bid must include a certified check for 250 dollars payable to Alle ry Furniture Co as guarantee of entering into contract and approved bond within ten days of award. The Presbyterian church and Sunday school plan a picnic at the Slaughter ranch tomorrow. Conveyances will wait at the church at 9:30 AM. Good care will be taken of the children and parents are invited.
Lightning struck the Smith furniture store in St Joseph Missouri today causing total destruction by fire with an estimated loss of two hundred thousand dollars.
Base Ball team in good shape after the cadet officers list released by General Orders No 4. The ceremony followed formation with promotions across ranks including Captains E Head R L Smith N Weltmer and several First Lieutenants and Sergeants major named in the battalion. The notice ends with listing non commissioned officers.
Dr Washington Gladden introduced a resolution at Seattle urging the American Board of Commissions for Foreign Missions to avoid soliciting or accepting donations from individuals whose gains are believed to be morally reprehensible or socially injurious. The measure, read during the morning session, was referred without discussion.

Miss Leslie Hair arrived from Dexter this morning to oversee business affairs for the day, staying to manage ongoing tasks and coordinate with local associates.
