Roswell Artesian Basin Is Extended
State Engineer John Bliss ordered two new underground water basins and enlarged a third, adding 2 100 square miles to state regulation. The Roswell basin now covers 1 220 square miles across Chaves Eddy Otero and Lincoln counties. New basins are the Hondo Basin in Lincoln County and the Penasco Basin in Otero and Chaves counties, totaling 11 basins statewide. Artesia Man Dies In El Paso Train Truck Crash
Ricardo Herrera, 70, of Artesia died when a pickup he rode in was struck by a Texas and New Orleans switch engine at a crossing in El Paso.
