Washington September 9 Frank M. Condon a cashier in the surveyor of customs office at Cincinnati who figured in the Warriner embezzlement scandal tied to the Big Four railroad was discharged from government service today.
Lloyd W. Bowers, Solicitor General, died in Boston this morning from complications of bronchitis. He had been ill about two weeks and died suddenly while talking with his family. He was fifty one. A blood clot in the heart caused his death.
Dallas September 9. W. C. Witmer former cashier of the Western Bank and Trust Co is charged in three indictments with illegally receiving bank deposits. Two indictments were returned yesterday. The bank failed in January 1908 for more than a million dollars.

Reports from Ludington Milwaukee and Detroit state ferry 18 sank in mid lake about 30 miles off Sheboygan with thirty nine crew lost and three saved. The vessel valued at 400000 carried coal and other freight. next of kin and cause yet unknown. Sister ship 17 rescued the entire crew.

The cornerstone for the $130 000 Chaves County courthouse cannot be laid during the Masonic Grand Lodge meeting next month as the foundation work is not ready. The ceremony will occur later in winter after the dark imported stone and cornerstone are delivered.
