A major Memphis fire destroyed valuable property causing about 800000 dollars in damage. Fire crews battled the blaze through the night, but many structures were severely damaged. Local authorities investigate the fire origin and potential causes.
A downtown Memphis fire started in the Oliver Finne Grocery Co. and swept through the wholesale district today. About $800,000 in property was ruined as neighboring stores burned. one fireman fell from a ladder and six others were overcome by heat and hospitalized.
The Interior Department confirms restoration of land within the Hondo project to public entry. Seven people were killed and twenty five injured when a Wabash passenger train struck a suburban street car at the Sarah Street crossing in St Louis. The collision occurred at about thirty miles an hour, leaving occupants with no escape. Also notes Jack Martin's view on coal in the White Mountains and Miss Sara Morley leaving for Cleveland after teaching institute duties.
Rain washed bass and suckers from Spring River into the ditch by the depot. As waters fell, small boys waded in and netted the fish by hand, making a large morning haul.
