A new military company was formed last night at the court house with local residents joining officers in establishing a formal unit. Platoon leaders were present to organize drills and assign roles for upcoming duties.
Forty one men form a Roswell military company to be attached to the Territorial National Guard with Ea Caffee chosen captain. Officers O H Nelson and Cyrus Leland named first and second lieutenants. A new roadway between Roswell and Torrance is proposed, 103 miles, with two daily departures and seven hour trips, aiming for cost savings and improved service.
A wounded tailor, Tom Campbell, pleads from his Roswell shop after harming his arm while gathering rags. He urges local support for five workers, promising quality first class tailoring and urging customers to avoid outsourcing. He links earnings to the shop’s livelihood and on local pride.

A Chicago Junction railroad switchmen committee will press for a settlement plan.
A group of Roswell citizens are pushing to connect Torrance and Roswell by automobile road. In the coming days interested parties will review the route and make immediate arrangements for construction.

A group of distinguished electrical engineers from several European countries arrived in Boston en route to St Louis for the international electrical congress. They will tour Harvard University tomorrow, then proceed to the exposition city, with stops planned in New York Albany Niagara Falls Cleveland and other points to inspect street railways and ventures.
A special Pullman train departs San Francisco for St Louis to join California day at the World's Fair next Friday. Native Sons of the Golden West sponsor the event, about 500 Californians expected to participate, with two carloads of fruits and goods to be distributed en route and at St Louis as California promotion.
Asbury Park N J Sept 2 The young Republicans of New Jersey hold the annual convention of the State Republican League. Governor Murphy presided over the afternoon base meeting with J Hampton Moore of Philadelphia Congressman Charles N Fowler and other leaders addressing the gathering. Messages of congratulation came from President Roosevelt and Senator Fairbanks.
Edward E Albin and Elizabeth Gayle daughter of F P Gayle were secretly married last evening at the bride’s parents home with Elder C dill officiating. They will live in Roswell for now. The Record offers congratulations as Roswell sees a building boom with many new residences.
S. S. Cavins and family from Claude Texas are visiting relatives, described as a short trip to catch up with kin.
