Early voting numbers rise across New Mexico counties
Through Monday 16 300 early votes were cast out of 108 620 registered voters in the county. Voters who requested absentee ballots but vote early face provisional ballots unless they spoil or replace the first ballot. Clerks expect early voting to cut Election Day provisional totals while noting increased turnout among first time and infrequent voters. Local clerks report minor problems and occasional electioneering near sites with efforts to have voters remove campaign gear.
