Online property tax payments expand for Chaves County
Residents can now pay property taxes online by credit or debit card through Point & Pay. A $2 or 2.95 percent convenience fee applies, not collected by the Treasurer's Office. Users need their tax account number and amount from the bill, plus card details, to complete the transaction.

Veterans Day Assembly at Goddard High School
GHS plans a Veterans Day Assembly on November 11 from 1 30 to 3 p m in the Little Theater and gym. Robert Fancher says last year’s program was a hit with songs videos and a Battle Hymn performance by Sean Lee. Veterans from World War II Korea Vietnam Gulf War and the War on Terrorism will attend along with GHS graduates. Four hundred chairs will be set for veterans and families as the National Anthem America the Beautiful and God Bless America are performed. The event, part of Character Counts, is free and open to the public. Current service members may attend in uniform.

New policy lets in person voting for missing absentee ballots
New Mexicans who have requested absentee ballots but not yet received them may vote in person at early voting sites. Voters present an affidavit, verify no ballot has been received, and cast a paper early ballot. If the missing mail ballot turns up later, it is marked spoiled and not counted.

Two-Car Crash Causes Southeast Main Street Tie-Up
A two car collision at East Poe and SE Main Street Wednesday created a long traffic jam as drivers headed to pick up children. Aaron Vaughn 19 rear ended a maroon Prizm causing it to veer into a ditch. Prizm driver injured and hospitalised. Contour airbags deployed but Vaughn uninjured. Traffic diverted for cleanup then eased within twenty minutes.
