Fleck’s Taos to Kansas City Residency and 1946 Return

The painter Fleck left Taos after the Taos Society disbanded in 1927 and Depression years drained funds and spirit. He accepted a 1942 artist in residence dean role at the University of Kansas City with Thomas Hart Benton’s encouragement. Upon returning in 1946 his Taos landscapes grew brighter with high key palettes and decisive brushwork.
