EU agrees to 40 percent emissions cut by 2030
EU leaders clinched a deal to cut greenhouse gas emissions at least 40 percent below 1990 by 2030 and raise renewable energy to at least 27 percent of needs with a 27 percent energy efficiency target. The pact aims to shape global talks in Paris next year and keep Europe the climate leader despite opposition from Poland and other eastern states.
