Noted writer and sportsman Zane Grey died suddenly today at his Altadena home from a heart attack. Charges Filed In Accident Sunday Near Hondo
A Sunday crash two miles west of Hondo on U S Highway 70 involved a New Mexico Transportation Co bus and two trucks. Ira Tidwell of Pinon New Mexico faced reckless driving charges after turning around on the highway caused the collision. Hes ter Lee Morgenthaler of Denver City Texas was charged with driving without a license in county court. Clarence Parker was the bus driver and another bus carried the passengers from the wrecked vehicle.

Mexican is Seriously Wounded in Shooting
Jesus Romero was seriously wounded when a shot rang out at his Oasis farm home on Sunday afternoon. Francisco Martinez, held in county jail, gave a conflicting account claiming a 50 cent debt led to a fight. Martinez was arrested at his Oasis farm house and police recovered a .38 revolver hidden under a floor board. Romero remained in St Mary's Hospital in serious condition with a chest wound.
