Afghan parliamentary elections marred by violence and chaos
In Kabul and across Afghanistan the first parliamentary vote in eight years faced attacks and disruptions. At least three people died in a Kabul bombing and voting was extended as delays and a new biometric system caused confusion. Police reported 15 casualties and security forces expanded to 70,000 while Kandahar and Ghazni faced delays. Final results are not expected until December.
