President Ford met with Mexican President Echeverria in Nogales and Magdalena de Kino for joint border ceremonies and initial labor and trade discussions. The two leaders traveled by helicopter from Davis-Monthan to Nogales and to Magdalena, with a Tubac barbecue planned for guests from Arizona and Sonora.
