Washington October 13 Senate opponents announce fresh amendments to the administration neutrality bill despite expected acquiescence on shipping rules. Senator Johnson Calif led a fiery speech calling repeal a first false step, arguing Hitler cannot conquer Europe and that such action would drag the U.S. into war. Fatal Auto Accident Near Lake Arthur

Marie Fink, 13, died when she rode on the fender of a car driven by Gilbert Gomez, 13, near Lake Arthur. The vehicle left Cottonwood road, pinning her between the car and a bank. Gomez, Mrs Cannon, and another rider were in the car. State police investigated. body taken to Artesia. The incident occurred one mile south and 1.5 miles west of Lake Arthur.

Federal debt hits record high as treasury resumes borrowing

November daily crude oil demand in U S rises in 1939 outlook

Big Co move offices to gain tax cut in Flemington

In Flemington New Jersey four major firms Standard Oil Great Western Sugar United Shoe Machinery and Montana Power shifted their offices here to cut taxes. Coronado Centennial Plans Expand Beyond New Mexico

Four year old hit by taxi shows signs of recovery

Columbus hospital doctors report Glenn Knoblock four years old remains comatose since July but now shows consciousness. He can see and eat almost normally though cannot talk and may have hearing issues. Casts on limbs hinder movement. they are removed every three hours for massage. Hiway Wage Scale Talks End In Deadlock In Santa Fe

T. H. Rector Struck by Auto in Roswell

T. H. Rector, about 70, was hit by an automobile driven by Edgar Latimer in the 200 block on North Virginia at 8:45 last night. He suffered cracked ribs and was transported to St. Mary's hospital. Rector was crossing the street midblock while Latimer drove slowly, per traffic officer L. H. Keller who investigated.

New Loco Hills Oil Area Stakes Expand in Eddy County

Staking of four new locations near four miles southeast of the Loco Hills region in Eddy county signals renewed activity in the southeastern New Mexico fields. The Gates No. 2 well near the Gates No. 1 discovery connects two roofs, with two rigs already moved in. Nearby locations include N. B. Nolan Abbie Tes No. 1 and F. M. Farley State No. 1 A as 2 producer wells, while Kersey Company Creek No. 1 and Leo Manning McClay No. 1 line the area, with location, slush pit, and road work in progress.
