In Tokio on Oct 19 American Minister Lloyd C Griscom will present William Jennings Bryan to the Emperor on Oct 21 Huntington Wilson the secretary of the American legation hosted a luncheon in Bryan's honor Griscom will host a dinner for Bryan tomorrow indicating high level diplomatic ties and a formal meeting with the Emperor scheduled for Oct 21.

Contempt against W W Gatewood was overruled. he may answer by Friday. Chicago October 18 Federal Judge J Otis Humphrey overruled the packers demurrer to odd numbered counts alleging conspiracy in restraint of trade The demurrer to even numbered counts charging monopoly was sustained in the meat packers case before the court
Washington October 18 The Enterprise National Bank of Allegheny Pennsylvania closed by order of the comptroller after a federal examiner found insolvency. The bank established in 1870 owed depositors 2 100 000. The cashier killed himself.
