County Treasurer Gail Harris announced that 23 513 tax bills totaling 3 949 316 66 will be mailed to Chaves County taxpayers for 1977. The amount is about 11 683 34 less than 1976. Taxpayers may pay all taxes or first half by December 1 1977 without penalty. Second half due May 1 1978. To maximize IRS exemptions all taxes must be paid before December 31 1977. Taxpayers should bring or mail the yellow copy of their bill for faster service. Bills for recently sold property should go to the new owner or be returned to the treasurer.
