Warship returns with 200 Nazi prisoners from Greenland raid
The United States Navy reports a warship bound for home with about 200 Nazi prisoners aboard including a Gestapo agent and Quisling Norwegians seized operating a hidden radio post in Greenland. The date was in September and arrival port undisclosed. A Norwegian steamer with the Gestapo crew is being escorted back. The action marked the first reported Allied capture on the immense Danish island.

Army Fortress Bomber Crashes On Takeoff
A four engine B-17 bomber crashed during takeoff from Duncan Field San Antonio killing pilot First Lieutenant M H Morgan and co pilot First Lieutenant Robert Reichstadt and wounding 14 others. Reichstadt died ten minutes after arrival at Fort Sam Houston hospital. The aircraft struck the intelligence bureau building and burst into flames, tearing a wing from the plane. Rescuers freed crew members from the burning craft as bystanders aided. The four engine fortress belonged to the 38th reconnaissance squadron at Albuquerque.

Army Engineers to Attend Flood Control Conference at Carlsbad
Officials from Roswell and Pecos Valley towns will attend a flood control conference in Carlsbad next Wednesday led by Col. Hewitt of the Galveston district engineer office and Col. Scott of the Dallas divisional office. Mayor Hall, Ross L. Malone Jr., and representatives from Hagerman Artesia Carlsbad Barstow and Pecos Texas will discuss the Pecos River survey and seek direct appropriation for the flood area aided by data and a comprehensive damage report being prepared by city attorney Malone. Senator Hatch urged a favorable army report and the assembly of flood data to support possible legislation in Congress.

RAF Storms Germany In Day And Night Raids
The RAF with American Eagle squadron launched heavy day and night bombing on Cologne, the Ruhr, the Rhineland, Rotterdam, Ostend, Dunkirk, Bordeaux and other targets across an 800 mile front. About 200 bombers, 10 lost, attacked industrial centers to choke eastern front supplies. Eagle pilots Peterson and Stewart, plus other RAF and American forces, reported destroying barges and damaging vehicles, with some German casualties and anti aircraft fire.
