Former Arkansas Governor to Inspect Roswell Drainage Loans

Harvey Parnell, former Arkansas governor, is due in Roswell within a week to inspect the Roswell Dexter Greenfield and East Grand Plains Drainage Districts. Demostration Plymouth car goes missing after ride

A man and woman took a new Plymouth from Lowrey Auto Company for a demonstration and did not return by afternoon. Sheriff calls issued, car possibly stolen. the couple left a 1932 Chevrolet at Lowrey's and used false names. The license on the Chevrolet belonged to a Springer, New Mexico man. Santa Fe Oct 11 AP Herbert W Griffin escaped from New Mexico State Prison yesterday and was captured last night in Santa Rosa. He was serving 18 months to two years for auto theft after being sent up from Chaves County in April. Warden Ed Swope and his wife hosted guests yesterday but canceled dinner as Griffin vanished.

Florida Goes Wet By Four To One Vote

Jacksonville October 11 AP Florida has voted for repeal by a margin far above expectations. The tally from 763 precincts of 1,272 reported shows repeal 76,898 against repeal 18,098. Secretary of state estimates suggest about half a million qualified voters. turnout appears around 88,000, with no county showing anti repeal lead.

Griffin Steals Jewett Chevrolet in Elida Chase Arrested

Griffin took George B. Jewett's Chevrolet on Main Street in front of the courthouse on April 28 1933. He fled after a chase about five miles north of Elida and was captured by Elida officers. He pled guilty in district court April 29 and was sentenced to the penitentiary by Judge James B. McGhee, committed May 1.

Ira V. Boldt former employee of First Savings Bank acquitted by district court jury after six hours deliberation of making a false entry with intent to deceive the state bank examiner. Indicted for a false entry of 14853 tied to a trust fund. two other indictments pending.

New Mexico Sees Few Dry Spots After Repeal Vote

As of October 11 Roosevelts county voted against local option and Valentia county did not vote. Taos county results are in doubt with only two of 28 precincts reporting. Ban chitos and Costilla both favored repeal 125 to 2 and 95 to 0. Overall the state backed repeal by about 3.2 to 1. Thirty seven counties had voted on Sept 19.

Santa Fe October 11 AP Chief Tax Commissioner Byron O Beall said New Mexico is in better financial condition than any other state regarding tax administration. Seven Killed In Giant Plane Crash Near Chesterton

A New York to Chicago United Air Lines twin motor airliner crashed five miles southeast of Chesterton Indiana killing all seven aboard. Witnesses heard a huge explosion as the all metal ship went down in flames after reportedly passing over North Liberty and Cleveland before vanishing. Authorities fear two bodies may be in the wreckage as search teams continue.
