Auction draws 350 despite weather in Maywood addition

About 350 people braved rain to attend the Friday auction of 70 town lots in the Maywood Addition west of Roswell’s New Mexico Military Institute. Colonel Sheets of Fredonia Kan led the sale with free carriages provided, Roswell Band guiding the procession, and prizes awarded to attendees. Lots sold from $15 to $102.50, with a few higher-ticket parcels and a two-room house bringing $175. Dandy of Manhattan Kan. bought the section from Casebier, who bought from H. R. Morrow. Dandy also owns the Morrow residence.

Start Drill Today at Home Oil Well Site Near Roswell

The Parker Drilling Co starts drilling for Home Oil Company with a 127 600 lb outfit claimed as the largest in the Pecos Valley. Two boilers will operate alternately to avoid boiler cleaning. The site lies twelve miles northeast of Roswell on a line with Roswell Oil Company’s well and the Stockyard, four and a half miles northwest of the former well. Roswell Oil Company’s well is down 1400 feet with better indications than before, and more gas and oil are suggested.
