A 5000 strong sympathy mob gathered at the Perfect Circle foundry in New Castle Indiana after a strike sparked clashes. Eight people were shot with three inside the plant and five outside. State police and potential National Guard were discussed as Lt. Gov Handley and Gov Craig sought to restore order amid disputed claims of non striker gunfire and alleged city police involvement.

Water table restored after heavy rains in Lea County

Statutory Rape Charges Filed Against Artesia Teens
Statutory rape charges were filed in district juvenile court against two Artesia boys ages 14 and 17 and a 15 year old Artesia high school girl. Assistant District Attorney Charles Feezer said the charges followed police and juvenile officer J D Josey’s review. The alleged assault happened near Ninth and Grand Streets as the girl walked home from a high school football game dance.
