Roswell city extends fire limits and repeals itinerant license
Roswell city council last night extended fire limits to include the area between Railroad Avenue and Richardson Avenue and Alameda Street and Sixth Street. The ordinance amending section 1 of ordinance 14 was passed with suspended readings. An ordinance imposing a $500 itinerant merchant license was repealed after alderman J E Moore argued it no longer served its purpose and risked lawsuits.

Springer Bank Robbed Today Cashier Taken
Two unmasked gunmen robbed the Citizens State Bank of Springer in N M stealing 3000 in cash and 2000 in securities while cashier H L Boyd was forced to unlock the vault and lie on the floor. Boyd escaped unharmed and reported the hold up as posses searched northern New Mexico. Descriptions: one man tall and well dressed, the other dirty and shabbily dressed. Police sought the suspects toward Clayton after fleeing in a second car.

Santa Fe Freezes Into October With Coldest Oct Fifth On Record
Santa Fe New Mexico awoke to frost and freezing temperatures the coldest October fifth since 1872. The weather office recorded 29 degrees at the post office building and 27 at the field station. Only 1908 saw a colder fall low, 21 degrees on September 21. The low held at four this morning before rising to 34 by seven.

Lopez Given Ten Years In Prison For Jury Tampering
Albuquerque, Oct 5. Juan B C Lopez one of ten ex employees of the First National Bank of Santa Fe was indicted and sentenced in a $73 60 shortage case. Federal Judge Colin Neblett resentenced him to ten years in prison and fined $6 000 at a hearing on charges of jury tampering.

Hust and Kechter Trial Opens in Albuquerque
In Albuquerque on October 7 AP news reports the murder and criminal abortion case against Dr R L Hust of Albuquerque and Harry Kechter of Santa Fe. The trial related to the death of Mrs Justine Harrington Elms of Santa Fe will begin in district court tomorrow following a coroner s jury finding. Both defendants pleaded not guilty at arraignment.
