Two Boys Held After Artesia Assault on 15-Year-Old
In Artesia two teenage boys, aged 15 and 17, are in custody after a 15 year old girl was attacked on a south Artesia front lawn near a football game. A neighbor witnessed part of the struggle, police say a knife was shown, and the assault lasted about 20 minutes. Yuma Arizona rescue teams probed the muddy reservoir for the body of B57 demonstration pilot John Birt 28 who died when his jet engine failed and the craft plunged into the 20 foot deep Yuma Air Base water during an Air Force barbecue.
