Cabins Washed Away in Ruidoso Flood Estimates
Chase Realty of Ruidoso puts losses at about 35 cabins washed away with 20 more damaged in the flood. In a 2 1/2 mile upper canyon stretch 13 cabins were washed, three more cut in two, and ten damaged, with 15 or more cabins washed away below the land. Joe Palmer reported from the scene.

Prison Terms In An Assault Case
In Tucumcari New Mexico on October 3 two men received prison terms and two others suspended in a case arising from a criminal assault and the death of Maggie Wilker. Chris Aguilar got two to five years for criminal assault Ramon Ortega a 15 to 15 year term for manslaughter Richard Sena and Candelario Solano pleaded guilty and were given two to five year suspended terms.

Railroad Bridge Reopened After Pecos River Repair
The Santa Fe railroad bridge over the Pecos river has been repaired and trains started moving early today. Regular passenger schedules resumed. All highways are open except between Roswell and Clovis. Traffic to Clovis via Tatum. The road remains closed between Hondo and Ruidoso, but Roswell to Tularosa via Carrizozo is available.
