Zoning Amendment Seeks Equal Treatment for Public Lands
The Chaves County Planning and Zoning Commission will hear for the first time an amendment to Zoning Ordinance No. 7 proposed by county staff. The change would apply zoning rules to all county lands equally with private lands, excluding areas inside Roswell city limits and certain towns and the Extraterritorial Zone. State Police Plan October DWI Patrols And Checkpoints
New Mexico State Police will run sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols statewide through October to cut alcohol related fatalities. In eight months 237 traffic deaths occurred with 83 involving alcohol, down from 112 last year. Officers will also verify licenses registrations and insurance.
