Flood waters fell in southern New Mexico today but the death toll rose with two Roswell liquor firm workers drowned when their car swept into a flood swollen river near a washed out bridge on U S highway 70. Carlsbad reported a ninth body found among a dozen missing from the Pecos flood. A 9 year old black boy was located 24 miles downriver. Roswell’s Pecos flood eased as Hondo river subsided. Oil drainage action aims to boost New Mexico royalties

Another Body Is Found At Carlsbad
In Carlsbad New Mexico on October 1 1944 a second body was recovered after floods from the Guadalupe mountains. Ne gro parents buried either C L Weatherall or J D Weatherall an eight or nine year old boy found 24 miles south of Carlsbad after ten days in flood debris. The two boys were in a pickup with the Weatheralls when the disaster struck.
