Ford tours Trans-Alaska pipeline during Alaska visit
President Ford inspected icicle laden sections of the trans Alaskan pipeline at a pump station near Fairbanks during his 10 day trip to Peking. He spoke to about 5000 people in a snow covered hangar and pledged peace in Asia and noninterference in internal affairs as part of warming relations with China.

Blizzard winds batter Roswell area and roils northern New Mexico
Storm winds and a tremendous blizzard lash Roswell and the Ruidoso region as gusts reach 35 mph. National Weather Service warnings blanket the mountains while travel advisories halt west, north and northeast routes. Sierra Blanca Ski Resort closes as trees fall and roads pile with snow. No serious injuries reported though trailers topple and roofs loosen in the high winds. Cold air follows with temperatures in the 40s by Monday's highs and nights near the 20s.

Pesticides Law Inked By White House
The White House announced the President signed a law giving the EPA 71.5 million dollars through March 1977 for its pesticides program. The act extends deadlines for full pesticide registrations to September 1977 and requires advance notice to the Agriculture Department and the public before agency actions. It bars EPA from forcing private applicators to pass a competency test, while states may require testing. Educational information on integrated pest control will be provided via EPA state offices and USDA Extension Service.
