Santa Fe New Mexico November 28 1932 AP Governor Arthur Seligman orders all state departments institutions and officials to draft 1933 budgets at 90 percent of prior tenth legislature appropriations. He warns no guarantees and urges duplicate preparations due January 10 1933 ahead of the legislative session.
A New York City feature describes a five cent “magic box” selling a vast array of goods and services. From food and beverages to clothing, amusement, and travel, the nickel allows purchases once priced higher, with examples ranging from meals and snacks to satin garters and 30 yards of wool. Fair tonight and Tuesday with little temperature change in New Mexico. West Texas expects generally fair conditions tonight and Tuesday with slightly warmer trends in the north. The $400000 civil suit of W H McNutt v United States Potash Corporation opened in federal court with Judge Colin Neblett presiding. McNutt, the plaintiff, testified on the stand outlining his claim for services in developing potash fields southeast of Carlsbad over nearly four years.
Detroit reports Henry Ford underwent surgery for strangulated femoral hernia and appendix removal. Bulletins from the hospital said his condition is satisfactory with a good day and a normal temperature. World leaders and figures sent well wishes as the crisis period approaches.
Joe Baca 22 of Gallup has begun a life term for the death of his uncle Juan Baca at a Gallup Republican rally. He pleaded guilty to second degree murder after being sentenced by District Judge M A Otero Jr to ten to 99 years in the state penitentiary. The shooting occurred November seventh on the steps of the American Legion hall.
In the New Mexico case State v O P Tobe Foster the jury was instructed to return a verdict of not guilty after the defense persuaded Judge H A Riker that the state lacked sufficient evidence for conviction. The defense earlier moved to dismiss at the close of the state's case and was overruled. Geo.
Albuquerque Nov 28 AP damage estimated at 10000 dollars followed a fire that destroyed a Redi-Mixed Concrete Company concrete mixing plant. Firefighters laid 27 sections of hose to reach the blaze endangering the neighborhood and authorities did not know the cause.
Santa Fe New Mexico AP reports Byron QC, the thief tax commissioner, said the tax commission probably would fix livestock and grazing rates at its meeting next week. Last week the commission heard requests from cattle and sheep industries to reduce rates below last year but took no action and did not commit itself.
The New Mexico sheep sanitary board will hold its regular semi annual meeting here on December 8, announced today by Walter Connell chairman and George W Armijo secretary. Budget matters will be discussed.

Roswell Lions Club offers free Braille lessons and materials to all blind residents in the Pecos valley. Myron Prager reports a California donor enabled shipments from Orlando Lions to supply Roswell for statewide distribution.
Plans to hold a baby beef and calf show in Roswell in March 1934 tied to the New Mexico Hereford Breeders Association sale. The event aims to showcase well conformed calves and pure bred stock, with discussion by county agents at Lovington or Roswell meetings in December.

AP reports Paul H. Barnes a 17 year old from Albuquerque was accidentally shot when his .22 rifle discharged after he dropped it yesterday. The wound to his shoulder is not considered serious and physicians expect a quick recovery.
