Bill Geaton was sentenced to life in Santa Fe Territorial Penitentiary after being found guilty of murder in the second degree in the case of Henry L. Jones. The judge thanked defense counsel, noted no clemency, and described the crime as brutal and unambiguous. Geaton listened with a stolid demeanor and later joked with guards, saying the life term was harder to beat.
