Dr. R. R. Davis of Corona New Mexico is jailed in Carrizozo charged with murdering Dr. J. T. Stone, a prominent county official, after a prior assault by Stone left Davis wounded. Stone had paid a prior $500 fine for assault with a deadly weapon.

Galveston Texas November 22 The import tax on cattle sheep and work horses sent from Texas to Mexico has been removed and will cease to be effective immediately according to word received by the local Mexican consul The Record has received communication from Senator AL A Jones and Holmes O Bursum both saying that the first apportionment of the 2 5 million of the 15 million appropriation for the construction of Forest roads and trails has been made by the Secretary of Agriculture on the basis of area and value of National Forest land As a result of this apportionment 119 639 has been set aside for expenditure in New Mexico under the terms of the law 7 000 000 of the appropriation for the fiscal year 1923 will be apportioned about January 1 1922 From the data now available New Mexico s apportionment will be about 335 000 The remaining 5 5000 000 of the whole appropriation is under the terms of the act to be distributed by the Secretary of Agriculture upon the basis of fire hazard value of resources and other similar factors This apportionment has not yet been made Some Long Distance Talks An interested group of spectators were at the Roswell Public Service office last night where Carl Einhart and Louis Falconi were experimenting with Einhart s wireless equipment Although conditions were not overly favorable the University of Wisconsin Denver El Paso Juarez Los Angeles and ships at sea on the Gulf of Mexico were all heard It could be easily seen how this work could be very fascinating.
