In Santa Fe, Bronson Cutting Republican urged Dennis Chavez to reveal any grounds for contesting the six year Senate race. He stated that official returns favored Democrats in 27 of 31 counties and warned Chavez to present evidence of error or fraud to involve the people of New Mexico. Chavez too busy to comment, while F R Carpenter outlined a decentralized grazing plan to empower local committees and stockmen.
Beverly Hills residents hear a barnstorming trio John J. Rascob Irenee Du Pont and Edward F. Hutton promote a $300 million talent plan called Liberty League claiming the U.S. Constitution is the forgotten man. They ride in three private railway cars urging crowds to block the kick and defend the constitution.

Dennis Chavez by about 1,178 votes in the Senate race with 27 counties official. Mora Rio Arriba San Miguel Catron incomplete. Contests and absentee ballots affect final totals and canvasses.
The Safeway at 125 27 North Main opens tomorrow with a 50 foot front, modern fixtures, new meat market, overhead gas heaters, and upgraded ventilation. The existing 412 North Main location closes. the two former stores are merged into one larger remodeled outlet. Local labor contributed about 1500 in wages. W J Fulbright is manager and A G Burton runs the meat department. all formerly employed crew join the new store.
After an eighteen month delay four federal oil permits totaling 10000 acres were issued to Co. J. Dexter and Repollo Oil Co. The permits lie between the Grayburg and Jackson pools in eastern Eddy county and signal increased activity in the wildcat areas. Eddy and Lea counties brace for their busiest period since early 1929.
More than 600 one dollar memberships have been obtained in the annual Red Cross Roll Call here by afternoon. Workers strive to reach the goal of 990 memberships and any late contributors can obtain their membership at the Chamber of Commerce.

Work to clean the C. J. Franks oil well nine miles southeast of Roswell nears completion at 2 30 pm. A test will follow in a few days after tubing and other setup. Depth reached is 986 feet in section 30 township 11 range 25. location corrected from a prior record. The well lies half a mile south of the Oasis cotton gin and is expected to be a good producer, though no production estimate will be offered until testing.
The national planning board appointed by President Roosevelt issued separate reports condemning the NRA and criticizing the farm program. Hunters in the Three Rivers area near Alamogordo New Mexico found a large brown bear dead, apparently by hanging, with one cedar branch clawed in two. The bear had killed itself and was found dead a day or two earlier.
The Roswell Oil Syndicate well east of the Pecos river in section 17 11 27 is drilling at about 1550 feet and is expected to reach the production level within about 100 feet. A showing of 116000 feet of gas was obtained at seventeen dollars per foot, and interested parties are optimistic about the outlook.
Raton was selected as the 1935 convention city by the New Mexico Congress of Parents and Teachers at its 12th annual meeting in Albuquerque. Officers will remain in place for another year. The Gold Star banquet closed the session with speakers including national PTA president Mrs. B. F. Langworthy and state leaders from Dexter Roswell and Albuquerque.
