Gas line leak cuts off four area service in New Mexico

A six inch seam breach on the El Paso Natural Gas line near Anthony Pass left White Sands Missile Range Holloman Air Force Base Alamogordo and Tularosa without gas. Crews replaced a 60 foot pipe section and expected repairs by mid morning but noted relighting pilots would take time as temperatures dropped to the low 30s.

Roswell Firemen Train For Butane Fire Control

Roswell firemen undergo a twelve hour course in fire fighting led by Don Naylor of the State Fire Marshall. They practiced a butane fire drill on a vacant lot near the Post Office using a Christmas tree of butane blowers and a tank to learn water screens and valve shut off procedures. Exercises aim to prepare for gas main or home butane tank fires and will involve all shifts with sessions today at 1 pm and 6 pm.
