Levi Strauss plans new Roswell plant with 700 to 800 jobs
Levi Strauss & Co announces a $2.5 million 95 000 square foot plant at South Main and Brasher Road Roswell. The project will start in spring 1973 with completion about a year later and will consolidate operations for Roswell. Current plants employ about 550 with a target 700 to 800 after opening.

United Way drive nears its goal in Chaves County
Hasslar Strickland reports the Federal Campaign of the United Way of Chaves County has collected 3608.33 from civilian and military federal employees, topping the 3500 goal and lifting the campaign total to 137874.35, 78 percent of the 175889 target. Distribution allocates 85 percent to local United Way, 10 percent to National Health Agencies, and 5 percent to International Service Agencies.
