Reports from St Petersburg to Odessa describe extreme demonstrations, rioting, and mass clashes as Cossacks clash with students. City halls are stormed or set on fire. deaths and injuries mount, with Minsk and Kieff among the hard hit.
Roswell reports light observance of Hallowe'en with 20 to 30 youths under scrutiny as depredations decline. outbuildings tipped, gates removed, horses released. In Annapolis, wireless messages announce arrival of Prince Louis of Battenberg and a British squadron, with preparations for formal calls by officials and a three-line naval display. Mayor McClellan condemns red flags while Tammany Hall disclaims responsibility for them.
The Dexter road district welcomed a new King grader on Wednesday morning. Uncle Jerry Carier praises it as the best on the market and says it will improve roads near Dexter to county standards. Citizens thank county commissioners for aid in procuring the grader and seek approval for a Dexter voting precinct.
The jury in the Harry Robison case against Cottinham and Rose returned findings of fact and submitted the facts to Judge Pope for decision. The jury in the Charles Brown assault with a deadly weapon case found him guilty. The Gus Lard assault case with a deadly weapon is on trial this afternoon.
Expert accountants hired by President Morton of the Equitable Life Assurance Society have completed their examination and turned in a report. The findings are said to surprise even those who expected discoveries beyond the committee’s remit. The report will remain confidential until after the directors meet next.
Hallowe en activities at Roswell schools caused property damage at the Howell school on North Hill with torn fences and an old buggy used as yard ornament. At Central, a cat was found confined in a desk drawer. Possible disciplinary actions anticipated for the pranks.
In San Francisco on November 1 4 a voting machine used for the November 7 municipal election underwent a test before a fusionist committee. An operator demonstrated that placing a rubber band near candidate Fusion Geedick’s name could prevent registering for mayor while still registering for other offices.
The Interstate Commerce Commission began an inquiry today in Washington into private refrigerator cars on transcontinental railways. Hearings target Santa Fe and Southern Pacific railways and Armour car lines plus the Santa Fe Refrigerator Despatch and American Refrigerator Transit companies. Principal witness J S Leeds asserted the practice cannot be halted and described regates.
A number of Dexter residents were arraigned in district court on the Territorial side yesterday afternoon for violating the Sunday law. Roswell citizens faced the same charge but their cases were dismissed. Dexter defendants pleaded guilty and received light fines with suspended jail sentences during good behavior.

Mrs. T. B. Loveless is bedridden after a horse kicked her in the stomach at her west town home Monday evening. Doctors report the injury not dangerous but very painful.
Judge and Mrs. T. B. Wall, who have stayed in Roswell for asthma relief, left for Wichita. The Judge credits Roswell with a bright future and predicts the population will double in seven years. Wall is a Kansas Republican politician and district bankruptcy referee.
Chan J Devlin a bankrupt millionaire coal operator from Topeka Kansas died at Elizabeth hospital Chicago after a second stroke. His first stroke last summer caused severe setbacks to his vast business interests and led to his financial collapse.

In New York two campaign incidents sparked excitement as anti Hearst banners were torn down in separate city sections at noon. Each banner bore a red flag with a Hearst labeled hand and an American flag with a McClellan labeled hand, and asked “Under which flag?” The American flag was treated reverently in both cases.
