Judge delays Suge Knight murder case after new lawyer hired
Los Angeles AP A judge postponed Knight murder trial hearings after he hired Thomas Mesereau famed for defending Michael Jackson. The next motion hearing to dismiss murder attempted murder and hit and run charges was moved to July 7 to allow Mesereau to file papers and study the case. Knight faces charges for a January Burger stand incident in Compton. Knight has pleaded not guilty. Mesereau voiced concern about Knight's jail treatment citing lack of visits and phone calls. The judge noted a sealed jail rights order exists, unknown to prosecutors. Knight was absent from court earlier due to illness.
