Sixth victim dies from Texas City refinery blast injuries
The Texas City refinery disaster raises to six the confirmed fatalities after Monroe Huebner 49 of Alta Loma died of burns at John Sealy Hospital Galveston. Joyce Taylor among the hospitalized remains in critical condition with burns over eighty percent of her body as casualties from the Gulf Coast plant explosions continue to rise.

Pryor Holds Thin Edge In Arkansas Senate Runoff Race
Governor David Pryor leads a crowded field for two runoff slots in the Arkansas Democratic Senate nomination race. With about 460000 votes counted in 81 percent of precincts Pryor had 35 percent while Ray Thornton and Jim Guy Tucker trailed with about 32 percent each. A fourth candidate, A C Grigson, had 2 percent. The runoff is June 13. In North Carolina John Ingram won the Democratic senatorial nomination defeating Luther Hodges Jr. and could face Jesse Helms in November. Ingram promised to reuse populist themes from his victory campaign.
