April CPI Rises 0.9 Percent Led by Beef Price Jump
U S Labor Department reports consumer prices climbed 0.9 percent in April the largest rise since February 1977 with beef prices surging 6.6 percent and groceries up 2.4 percent. Housing costs and energy also rose while eggs and some fruits edged down. The year over year inflation rate for the past three months sits near 10 percent.
