Pageant to Crown Miss Roswell in 1974 Show

The Roswell Miss Roswell Scholarship Pageant will feature 14 local beauties at Pearson Auditorium on Saturday. Twelve contestants vie for Miss Roswell with 1 000 dollar prize, 500 and 250 for runners up, plus special trophies. The winner competes in Miss New Mexico and Miss America events.

Two Alamogordo men freed after marijuana bust

Douglas Burns Sr. and Dan Standlee, both of Alamogordo, were released from Chaves County Jail after posting $5,000 bonds each. They were arraigned on federal charges for possessing and distributing 1,400 pounds of crude marijuana found near Roswell. case forwarded to Albuquerque federal court.

Roswell to seek state OK for Greyhound plant plans

Roswell officials led by Mayor Jerry N. Smith and City Manager Robert J. Owen will travel to Santa Fe to obtain state approval to negotiate prices for improvements to Greyhound Lines Inc. manufacturing plant at the RIAC and for a two mile railroad spur. The project, valued around 300000 dollars, aims to allow Transit Manufacturing Corp. to move in by August 1 and requires a procedure change to avoid bid delays.
