Measuring Rainfall in New Mexico and Irrigation Tips
Rainfall is spotty across New Mexico with isolated storms. Use nearby reporting stations from Weather Underground or CoCoRaHS to estimate precipitation. Install a garden rain gauge for precise local data and monitor soil moisture depth to decide when to irrigate. Watch plant wilting and soil depth to adjust schedules, keeping trees on prior plans unless soil moistens to 2 3 feet after rainfall.
