Firefighters Contain George and Bear Fires Near Ruidoso
In Lincoln National Forest near Bonita Canyon, 130 firefighters five slurry bombers and two bulldozers fought the George fire and 98 crews battled the Bear fire two miles south of Bonita Lake. Both fires, sparked by lightning, burned 410 acres of heavy timber as winds spread flames. No homes were threatened.
