New Mexico budget approved after veto override
In an extraordinary session, the Democratic-led Legislature and Gov. Johnson override a veto to enact a nearly 3.9 billion dollar budget for the next fiscal year. Republicans bucked the governor, with 16 of 18 Senate Republicans and 21 of 28 House Republicans backing the override. The move averts a government shutdown, though a late-year special session remains possible if funds run short. Johnson calls the override a steamrolled outcome and questions GOP support for the measure.
