C H Foster finally drilled near Lake Arthur and found a remarkable water well. The first well produced 1600 gallons per minute with only 26 inch drawdown, a 72 inch rise in a rubber tube test, and praised by well men as among the best in five years. A second well also delivered strong flow, though initially sand and gravel were present before clearing.

5-Year Artesia Child Suffocates
In Artesia New Mexico on May 26 a five year old boy, Paul Loucks, was found suffocated inside an old outdoor refrigerator after being missing for hours. Police and volunteers, including high school cadet corps, conducted a large search before the body was recovered. An inquest was scheduled for today.
