The class of 1996 graduates from the high school earned honors as they completed their studies.
The jury found Jas Blackwell guilty of arson for setting fire to the Sheridan block on May 28 1995. He was remanded to jail to await sentence after a strong defense by Judge W W Gatewood and an ardent prosecution by James M Hervey. Evidence suggested he shipped four boxes of liquor to Texas shortly before the fire, with others marking glass. Blackwell had been free on bond for nearly a year and was the sole person indicted in connection with the alleged arson.
Dilley Furniture Co announces a large rustic collection of Old Hickory lawn and porch furniture now on display with the lowest prices. Jefferson Davis Camp No 535 United Sons of the Confederacy to meet at the courthouse Sunday at three and proceed to the cemetery for decoration exercises led by Commander Geo M Slaughter and Adjutant Fred J Beck.
