Houston reports astronaut Edward H. White II will leave his spacecraft during the upcoming four day Gemini mission. If conditions permit he will open the hatch and float 25 feet into space on a tether for about 22 minutes with nearly 10 minutes outside the craft.

Lone bandit robs Furr's Supermarket on Second Street

A gunman entered Furr's Supermarket at 601 W Second St Monday night and forced assistant manager Raymond Gormley to hand over 2867 dollars from the safe before escaping. He was described as about 6'2" and 190 pounds in his mid thirties.

Roswell High School honored 62 students as honor graduates among about 700 seniors. Dendy and Best received $25 scholarships and bronze keys, with trophies for top all around student Susan Richards. City tests show new well at Jaffa Sunset pumps 2200 GPM

Tests Monday on the citys new water well at Jaffa and Sunset show a pump rate of 2200 gallons per minute and good water quality. City Manager Hoyt McMinn noted pumping began around 1 30 pm and by 1030 pm the mud was cleared and water was clear. Bids for a second well at Hobbs and Sunset are set to be opened in City Council Chambers Wednesday at 2 pm.

Ruby Keller Wins Case Against Roswell Lodge Firing

Subdued by tear gas teacher goes berserk in Claremore

Betty Potts a 37 year old senior high school English teacher trapped in her home opened fire on neighbors children and a motorist in Claremore Oklahoma. Police used tear gas to end three hours of terror. Potts was removed to a hospital psychiatric ward with no injuries reported from gunfire.
